ART EXHIBITION: TALKING TREES by Mary-Lynne Stadler @ AUBERGINE IBIZA Restaurant
Sep 22 @ 12:00 pm

aubergine-sep1
AUBERGINE IBIZA RestaurantART EXHIBITION: TALKING TREES by Mary-Lynne Stadler @ AUBERGINE IBIZA Restaurant

from  12.00 – 24.00 hrs

An exhibition of paintings, drawings and mixed media works by Mary-Lynne Stadler, with contributions from people from all around the world.

It all began when she met a tree, a very ancient olive tree, on the terraces in the campo behind San Carlos.

The first thing that immediately struck her that day of the first meeting was that she had a heart – a heart that was clearly defined and embraced by her old bent and broken branches.

She has lived through hundreds of years of winds and floods and droughts. She has weathered storms and diseases, as well as interventions by insects, and humans and animals. Every one of those experiences has been scored, more or less deeply, in every fibre, every creeping root and every one of her broken branches, and each one has left its individual mark. And yet, despite the ravages of centuries that have scarred her, she still has a warm and embracing heart that continues to beat with life, and sends fresh new growth to reach the sky.

Mary knew she had to make work about her, and started sketching, there in front of her, in the biting winter wind. There are so many facets to this tree, so much history locked in her, that no single image will tell her story well enough. She has drawn her in pencil and charcoal, ink and gouache and more. At times I have sketched her quickly and roughly, other times the work has been done more painstakingly and in more detail.

In the end, though, she hoped that the range of work mirrors something of the complex nature of the way a single, ancient tree grows, survives and flourishes through the centuries.

Once she started working she began to think more about trees that have featured in her life, and when she started talking to people she realised that they, too, could pick out certain trees from their histories. Then she heard a talk by Canadian forester, Susanne Simard, who has shown that trees have a vast communication network through their roots that covers distances that stretch for many kilometres.

So it occurred to her that it would be interesting to mirror the trees’ communications and start people talking to one another about their trees stories, and sharing their creative interpretations of trees. So that we could generate greater respect for these magnificent plants through making people more aware of their own personal connections to trees.

The contributions quickly started to pour in. And the more interesting, touching or creative ones will become part of the exhibition, as will work by Mary-Lynne’s students and local children.

In the meantime, when all the talk has been about climate change, we need more trees. The scientists are telling us that planting enough more trees could absorb enough CO2 from the atmosphere to give us another decade of breathing space.

So this exhibition is more than just an exhibition. It is a message from the old olive tree to each and every one of us to stop cutting down the trees, and to start planting more trees.

About the Artist

Mary-Lynne Stadler is a fine art painter and printmaker living on the island, and working from her studio at Elysian, in Es Canar.

She fulfilled a life-long ambition to study art as a mature student, when she took an Honours degree in Art and Creative Writing at Bath Spa University College, Bath, England in 2001. She was subsequently awarded a Fellowship in Stone Lithography at the same establishment, and, two years later, joined the Cyprus College of Art on a year-long Postgraduate Diploma in Art.

Cyprus has a way of working its seductive magic on a person, and for the next decade she found herself still living and working there. During that time she was an active member of the art community on the island, participating in many exhibitions and events, including the first Open Studios event there in 2006, and running art workshops for both adults and children at her studio. For a time, she also taught both printmaking and History of Art to the students at the Cyprus College of Art.

She has exhibited widely in the UK and in Cyprus, as well as here on Ibiza, and her work can be found in collections all over the world, from Hawaii to Hong Kong.

Revelation party concept Ethereal returns to the enchanting Nagai Ibiza with the first of its winter dates. Embodying the essence of the north of the island, Ethereal holds its first event on Sunday 22 September 2019, with musical, visual and kinaesthetic artists that will slam open the doors of perception by bringing back that original spirit of Ibiza.

After a successful collaboration with Who Cares at Cova Santa this summer – including some sold-out dates with international superstar DJs the likes of Luciano – and ahead of its final summer date with Ethereal Festival at Las Dalias, the vibrant Ethereal picks up its original artistic journey at Nagai with another remarkable collection of imaginative artists.

Celebrating the start of autumn, the respected party has made a name for itself on the island for creating an authentic space where artists and guests alike can share their visions and uniqueness. Numerous exceptional artists will join established resident DJs and live acts to shift the energy on the island.

At 15:30, Italian duo Double M will get the party started with a live performance in the Garden. The original duo blend blends guitars, percussion, vocals, bass and a DJ set to create an acoustic and electronic experience, as well as presenting their new CD Lost In The Deep.

Island-favourites and Ethereal regulars, the deeply evocative Medusa Odyssey follow, also playing live. The Ibiza-based duo uses synthesizers, electric guitar, flutes, vocals and drum machines to create a dreamy ethnic sound unlike any other.

Party- and island-resident Maricha will be taking care of those sunset vibes with her “intelligent dance,” a unique fusion of her own live vocals, deep house, afro-house, downtempo and chill-rave.

Finally, rising star DJ and vocalist Lotus Imane concludes the outside portion of this event. Having recently played Burning Man Africa. Her ethnic electronic music fuses downtempo, house and techno beats with Native American shamanic and Sanskrit mantra stylised vocals to highlight the healing properties of music. Meanwhile, Marta DLM & Max Latino will already be dropping those tunes inside from 21:30.

Next up inside is Björn – also known on Ibiza as the “vibe creator” – who adds his organic passion for music to the mix. Representing the journey of life, his sets offer a ride through various energies and moods. Living between Ibiza and Berlin, he has been spending most of his time in the studio and will be sharing some of his unreleased tracks during his set the event. The party concludes with Edoardo Marvaso who will keep it going until late.

Living its ethos, Ethereal also continues its artistic contribution to the island. Visually, the event once again presents a brilliant collection of artists, curated by artistic director Rossano Poletti.

Having made a name for himself as a painter and graphic artist, the Italian-born Marco Cecioni will be displaying his work. His ceramics are on display in both Museo Pietro Canonica in Villa Borghese in Rome, all over Finland and in Mayfair, London.

Ethereal also brings back the prolific Victor Spinelli who has recently displayed his work at Burning Man. His best-known art work documents the legendary Ibiza party Manumission between 2001–2006 in his famous Manumission Reflections. Collected worldwide in both private estates and museums, his work aims to raise awareness towards the challenges that humanity is currently facing. The multi-media artist has been praised by Quentin Tarantino and featured in major publications the likes of Vogue, ELLE, Marie Claire, Glamour and many more.

Elisa Draghi returns to Ethereal with her freestyle, acrylic painting and self-portraits inspired by the universe and women. Also returning, the Italian illustrator and painter Simona Hellos brings in a collection of her finest work inspired by the sea, stars, children and love, as well as Alessandra Lowe.

The dazzling Violet Heart and Paula Catalan will be putting on brilliant interactive performances, bringing a kinaesthetic dimension to the event.

Lorenzo Melissari(born 14 September 1979) is an Italian photographer based in Ibiza. His various body of work is distinguished by observation of his surroundings and an ongoing investigation of the photographic medium’s foundations.
Since the early dreams of ethereal, Lorenzo has been visually guiding its growth, documenting and capturing every moment. Ok

The event continues its winning collaboration with Nagai, winner of the World Luxury Restaurants Awards for best Japanese restaurant in southern Spain for two consecutive years in 2017 and 2018. This picturesque venue provides an ideal backdrop for the original party. A Food Truck will be providing a selection of Asian food.

Ethereal runs from 15:30 until late on Sunday 22 September and includes a Kids Corner so parents can also come along and have some fun. Dig out your favourite outfits and get there early.

Created by Vito Masci – the mind behind established promotion group Ibiza People Dance Culture present their trailblazing party concept Ethereal continuing its artistic itinerary once again at the exquisite Nagai Ibiza. Ethereal is widening the doors of perception and bringing back that original spirit of Ibiza. Blending the finest musical, visual and kinaesthetic arts, the unique party invites everyone to celebrate its return.

With the beginning of spring, the admired party carries on its mission to provide full artistic expression, an open-hearted space and springboard for recognised artists in line with the vein of the party. Removed from commercialism, Ethereal espouses its love for music and art via riveting performances by both international and local DJs and artists.

Encouraging full freedom of expression, the party welcomes everyone. Guests of all ages are championed to free their minds and let go of their identities, in contrast to the system and rigid societal expectations. The refreshing Ethereal also provides an alternative voice to the current direction of the island. In line with its absolute freedom of expression, the inspiring party invites guests to let loose by sporting their most creative or outrageous outfits, as was once the norm on Ibiza or in the spirit of Burning Man in the U.S.
Calling attention to social and cultural causes, the party has established itself as one of Ibiza’s most alternative and creative parties, while presenting some of the best electronic music and diverse artists currently on the scene.

The event includes a Kids Corner so parents can come along and enjoy the event as well. Go on then. We look forward to seeing you flaunt your arty self.

paradisoibizaarthotel“O” – A collective exhibition on eroticism – 4th edition @ PARADISO IBIZA ART HOTEL

from 09.00 hrs  always open

Paradiso Ibiza Art Hotel presents: “O” a collective exhibition on eroticism by the hand of Adda Gallery returns to Ibiza for its fourth edition.

Ten artists from different countries and artistic fields — illustration, urban art, photography, pop surrealism — the show offers these artists ’vision on one of the recurring themes in art and life: Eroticism.

Sometimes rejected, relegated to the confines of what is respectable and what is not, eroticism has never ceased to captivate and inspire artists. Drawings, prints and photos make a homage to seduction, to the body, to the carnal pleasures, to the senses. Offering a realistic, romantic, sensual, even febrile or humorous view of the matter.

Exhibition from August 30 to October 13, 2019 – Curated by Anna Dimitrova

ART EXHIBITION: TALKING TREES by Mary-Lynne Stadler @ AUBERGINE IBIZA Restaurant

aubergine-sep1

COSMIC PINEAPPLE CLOSING PARTY 2019: Mysteries Of The Cosmos > STAR CHILD @ PIKES HOTEL

from 16.00 – 04.00 hrs

lineup: DJs: Jackmaster, Special Secret Guest, Heartthrob, Cici, Lele Sacchi, Garry Todd and more

Cosmic: Amazon wisdom and cultural preservation talk from the Huni Kuin Tribe, wisdom teaching and ceremony from Abuela Sylvia, sound journey from Elena Teixidor, Qi Gong, yoga…

The fifth Cosmic Pineapple event of 2019 will be the closing party Children of the stars – for we are all made of stardust – rise in your magic and step into the new.

For the 2019 Cosmic Pineapple closing event at Pikes, we bring ancient teachings into the modern way. In a world where we can get easily lost in electronic devices and alternate realities, Cosmic Pineapple is a reminder to bring it back… bring it back to our breath, to our body, to sound, to the energies running in and around us, to connection to our earth and the magical wisdom within.

After a powerful fourth season on the island, we close with our strongest event yet. Cosmic Pineapple is not just a party, but also a space to learn, share, evolve and raise funds and awareness for charitable causes. The Amazon is known as the lungs of our planet – supplying 20% of the earth’s oxygen. The burning fires destroying the Amazon have covered our news feeds the past weeks, we will not only be raising funds on the door to support Amazon Watch and also Amazon tribes – who hold the key to ancient wisdom of the jungle and the many medicines within – we will also hold teachings inside the event and we will open up the space for new ideas to emerge

Cosmic Pineapple runs from 4pm – 4am, the first half of the event is dedicated to teachings, creativity and fun. The night, dancing and a little of that after dark night time magic.
During the day at Cosmic Pineapple, alongside poolside music and food and drinks, a healing area, a children’s area, a cosmic bazaar of creative stalls from across the island, we have the teachings inside the Cosmic Activation Dome, including womb wisdom, tantra and a Mayan cacao ceremony. Elsewhere, Gong Master will give a gong meditation on the highest point of Pikes to enter the midnight hour, there will be ecstatic dance, light meditation therapy and more. And inside the Space Rave, from 10pm, Cosmic Pineapple resident DJ priestess, Cici, will guide you through the dance, alongside DJs announced on the day! There are also teachings to be found in every person you meet, so please be open to share and learn!

The intent is strong again on this event and the day time teachings will be based around ancient secrets, whilst the music of the night will bring the wisdom of the past into the future.

This year, for the charity and education element (when you enter the event you give a charity donation), we are working with The Ibiza Preservation Foundation and Ibiza Fenix to educate and inspire people at the events to create the changes needed inside and out.
In the news that climate change is escalating if we don’t act NOW and that we are driving 1 million species to extinction – NOW is the time to act. Change starts inside and within our local communities.

ipfIbiza generates double the amount of waste per person than the rest of Europe. Much of this is plastic.
As more plastic ends up in the sea and on our beaches, it’s harming our marine environment and endangered species.
Research work has found major concentrations of plastics in Ibiza’s waters.
Renewable energy in Ibiza is practically non-existent, representing 0.25% of energy production.
Putting Ibiza and Formentera onto a path to a more sustainable future is the vision of the Ibiza Preservation Foundation (IPF), so we’re happy to be taking part in the Cosmic Pineapple festivals this summer at Pikes, which is placing sustainability at the centre of its creative teachings and activities. We believe by preserving the islands’ natural beauty and resources we contribute to local well-being and prosperity.
This also aligns with the festivals’ focus on how we can take better care of ourselves and our planet.
Cosmic Pineapple will help us raise much-needed funds for our projects, in particular the Plastic Free Ibiza and Formentera movement that we’re delivering together with 18 other local NGOs.” – Ibiza Preservation Foundation

ibizafenixThe work of NGO Ibiza Fenix has many different elements. “This year, we’ll be doing several projects in the Ibiza Fènix movement, including cleaning up the island, helping to get rid of single use plastic and promote the consumption of local products in the tourism industry.
We are also running school education projects about the use of plastic in our daily lives, plus planning a more responsible tourist offer for the years ahead.” – Ibiza Fenix

Pikes, the iconic venue which houses the Cosmic Pineapple mini festivals, are also in support, with no plastic straws available and are cutting down on single use plastics. They are also working with the KM Zero Project, purifying the natural well water source for all hotel guests.
By these moves Pikes are eliminating over 11,000 plastic bottles per year. Pikes are also working with a local farmer to provide farm fresh local and seasonal produce for their restaurant food menu.

Cosmic Pineapple returns for their 12-hour high-vibes mini festival of magic and music at Pikes Ibiza delivering a melting pot of cosmics and creatives coming together to share and inspire.
Over six special summer dates, from 4pm – 4am, enter the rainbow and explore the cosmic and creative realms…

Following upcoming summer dates:
July 2 – Earth Magik
July 16 – Dreamland
August 13 – Get Your Freak On
September 24 – Star Child

Dance – Connect – Create… Transformation Awaits.

Offering a realistic, romantic, sensual, even febrile or humorous view of the matter.

paradisoibizaarthotel“O” – A collective exhibition on eroticism – 4th edition @ PARADISO IBIZA ART HOTEL

from 09.00 hrs  always open

Guest artists / Guest artists:
Agathe Sorlet (France) – Apollonia Saintclair (Europe) – Chamo San (Spain) – Ed Freeman (United States) – Felix Roca (Spain) – Francisco Bosoletti (Argentina) – Lib Rah (Cuba) – Mayo Llancares (Peru) – Melisa Ramet (Argentina) – Petites Luxures (France)
