paradisoibizaarthotel“O” – A collective exhibition on eroticism – 4th edition @ PARADISO IBIZA ART HOTEL

from 09.00 hrs  always open

Paradiso Ibiza Art Hotel presents: “O” a collective exhibition on eroticism by the hand of Adda Gallery returns to Ibiza for its fourth edition.

Ten artists from different countries and artistic fields — illustration, urban art, photography, pop surrealism — the show offers these artists ’vision on one of the recurring themes in art and life: Eroticism.

Sometimes rejected, relegated to the confines of what is respectable and what is not, eroticism has never ceased to captivate and inspire artists. Drawings, prints and photos make a homage to seduction, to the body, to the carnal pleasures, to the senses. Offering a realistic, romantic, sensual, even febrile or humorous view of the matter.

Exhibition from August 30 to October 13, 2019 – Curated by Anna Dimitrova

ART EXHIBITION: TALKING TREES by Mary-Lynne Stadler @ AUBERGINE IBIZA Restaurant
Sep 20 @ 12:00 pm

aubergine-sep1
AUBERGINE IBIZA RestaurantART EXHIBITION: TALKING TREES by Mary-Lynne Stadler @ AUBERGINE IBIZA Restaurant

from  12.00 – 24.00 hrs

An exhibition of paintings, drawings and mixed media works by Mary-Lynne Stadler, with contributions from people from all around the world.

It all began when she met a tree, a very ancient olive tree, on the terraces in the campo behind San Carlos.

The first thing that immediately struck her that day of the first meeting was that she had a heart – a heart that was clearly defined and embraced by her old bent and broken branches.

She has lived through hundreds of years of winds and floods and droughts. She has weathered storms and diseases, as well as interventions by insects, and humans and animals. Every one of those experiences has been scored, more or less deeply, in every fibre, every creeping root and every one of her broken branches, and each one has left its individual mark. And yet, despite the ravages of centuries that have scarred her, she still has a warm and embracing heart that continues to beat with life, and sends fresh new growth to reach the sky.

Mary knew she had to make work about her, and started sketching, there in front of her, in the biting winter wind. There are so many facets to this tree, so much history locked in her, that no single image will tell her story well enough. She has drawn her in pencil and charcoal, ink and gouache and more. At times I have sketched her quickly and roughly, other times the work has been done more painstakingly and in more detail.

In the end, though, she hoped that the range of work mirrors something of the complex nature of the way a single, ancient tree grows, survives and flourishes through the centuries.

Once she started working she began to think more about trees that have featured in her life, and when she started talking to people she realised that they, too, could pick out certain trees from their histories. Then she heard a talk by Canadian forester, Susanne Simard, who has shown that trees have a vast communication network through their roots that covers distances that stretch for many kilometres.

So it occurred to her that it would be interesting to mirror the trees’ communications and start people talking to one another about their trees stories, and sharing their creative interpretations of trees. So that we could generate greater respect for these magnificent plants through making people more aware of their own personal connections to trees.

The contributions quickly started to pour in. And the more interesting, touching or creative ones will become part of the exhibition, as will work by Mary-Lynne’s students and local children.

In the meantime, when all the talk has been about climate change, we need more trees. The scientists are telling us that planting enough more trees could absorb enough CO2 from the atmosphere to give us another decade of breathing space.

So this exhibition is more than just an exhibition. It is a message from the old olive tree to each and every one of us to stop cutting down the trees, and to start planting more trees.

About the Artist

Mary-Lynne Stadler is a fine art painter and printmaker living on the island, and working from her studio at Elysian, in Es Canar.

She fulfilled a life-long ambition to study art as a mature student, when she took an Honours degree in Art and Creative Writing at Bath Spa University College, Bath, England in 2001. She was subsequently awarded a Fellowship in Stone Lithography at the same establishment, and, two years later, joined the Cyprus College of Art on a year-long Postgraduate Diploma in Art.

Cyprus has a way of working its seductive magic on a person, and for the next decade she found herself still living and working there. During that time she was an active member of the art community on the island, participating in many exhibitions and events, including the first Open Studios event there in 2006, and running art workshops for both adults and children at her studio. For a time, she also taught both printmaking and History of Art to the students at the Cyprus College of Art.

She has exhibited widely in the UK and in Cyprus, as well as here on Ibiza, and her work can be found in collections all over the world, from Hawaii to Hong Kong.

The crew behind the award-winning Game Over, bring ONE NIGHT STAND back to the white isle with 3 special events at DC10 Ibiza, showcasing the freshest selectors alongside some of the industries finest that are keeping the underground flame of our scene alive.
September 20th will see their 3rd Birthday Lineup

2 Years ago PURE CARL COX the team of Game Over set out to run a warehouse rave and recreate everything that the early days of the scene represented, and that’s exactly what they delivered. Last year they broke the mould again and did something that has not been done before by taking their concept on a tour of Ibiza. Each individual club had its own special bit of magic so Game Over are there to bring out the best in all of them. They’re very much about the stripped back, no holds barred approach to parties. Forget the massive LED screens and effects… when you’re there, you’re in and part of the experience… the DJs, the music and the people are all part of what makes Game Over events so special. They want dancers who feel it like they do and expect everyone to let loose and sweat themselves dry with a smile on their face all night long: so, come down, pick a spot, bring a buzz and let the music do the talking.

This year is another pivotal moment for the “underground scene” and Game Over are determined to stick to their tried and tested ethos of throwing parties that they would want to go to as clubbers, whether that is for 500 or 5000 people.

So now alongside the undisputed King of Ibiza, Carl Cox, who is headlining the 12th of July at DC10 Ibiza, the aim is to merge the old with the new and bring something totally fresh to Ibiza and soon to a city near you.
Welcome to One Night Stand tour!

Amnesia Presents & Do Not Sleep announce 7 exclusive Friday dates, this summer, Fridays will be more Amnesia than ever

After 45 years transforming Ibiza’s nights into pure magic and bringing the island’s essence around the world, the time has come for our team to return to base to do what we do best. This season, Fridays come kicking off the season with huge changes in the island’s music scene.

The iconic nightclub’s international ‘Amnesia Presents’ event brand teams up with the island’s favourite straight-through-crew, Do Not Sleep, for an exclusive run of seven dates full of surprises that, with no doubt, will represent the maximum expression of the Ibizan essence.

Neil Evans, from Do Not Sleep, made clear why he wanted to be part of this unique set of events:

“Last summer we found our perfect home in Amnesia’s Club Room and there was no way that we could see ourselves settling for anything less than that this year. We’ve got a great relationship with the team at Amnesia and it made total sense to partner up with them to ensure that the ‘Amnesia Presents’ events had a club room to compete with their plans for the terrace, and I think it’s safe to say people are in for a treat when they see what we’ve got planned”

Though the line-ups are still to be announced, you can be sure that the scene’s biggest names will be situated in the infamous booth, whilst Do Not Sleep take charge of the club room with their inimitable brand of underground house and techno following their acclaimed debut season at the club last year. In addition, we will count with a solid team of residents between the two rooms, alongside a carefully selected run of headliners that you won’t want to miss.

The Amnesia Presents x Do Not Sleep events will run for seven Fridays this summer:

May 17th, 24th and 31st, June 7th and 14th, and September 20th and 27th.

To celebrate 20 years of Defected, we are returning to Eden in San Antonio on Sundays for 20 parties across the season.
Under the slogan HOUSE MUSIC ALL LIFE LONG, we are inviting clubbers around the world to celebrate everything there is to love about house music, sharing its values of inclusivity, togetherness and escapism on the dancefloor.

After a 2018 Ibiza season that saw Defected stride ahead of the competition in San Antonio, the world leader in house music returns to Eden for its third annual residency at the forward-thinking club. The night had up to 80% increase on attendance from the previous year in 2018, going back to basics to demonstrate how house nights in Ibiza should be. Affordable, accessible and with equal space for international headliners as underground heroes, Defected at Eden continues to be San Antonio’s success story.

2019 lineup: Armand Van Helden, Gorgon City, Kenny Dope, Basement Jaxx, MK, Low Steppa, Derrick Carter, Darius Syrossian, David Penn and the full force of Defected regulars Amine Edge & DANCE, Sam Divine, Simon Dunmore, Jess Bays plus many more

As always, the Defected Ibiza line-up reflects the very best we have to offer in house music, from the pioneering sounds of Todd Terry, MK, Karizma and Roger Sanchez, to the budding talents of Monki, Danny Howard, Jacky, Mambo Brothers and OFFAIAH – artists that have released on the label or sub-labels in the past 12 months. Defected is proud to welcome a number of artists making their debuts this year, including residents Gorgon City, a British duo who made their name through collaborations with MNEK and Duke Dumont and who continue to channel their London club roots. Further debuts come from Ferreck Dawn, who with his sets at ADE and London events alongside his slick house releases is quickly becoming a Defected favourite. House master David Penn will be making a welcome addition to the billing, as well as Do Not Sleep head Darius Syrossian and established garage legend Todd Edwards, making his first Defected DJ appearance following his huge release ‘You’re Sorry’ in February. The DJs may come from all corners of the world and have unique approaches to playing, making and selecting great house music but they all have one thing in common – they know how to queue up the right track at the right time, reading the dancefloor and always putting the dancers first. Thanks to these huge talents, Defected prides itself on consistently being a ‘no frills, just house’ party.

“This season is extra special as we celebrate our 20th year. We will continue our campaign to make clubbing more affordable on the island and have carefully curated a balanced programme of established DJs whilst introducing new talent to the island. We promise 20 amazing parties for Ibiza’s party people!” – Simon Dunmore.

ART EXHIBITION: TALKING TREES by Mary-Lynne Stadler @ AUBERGINE IBIZA Restaurant
Sep 21 @ 12:00 pm

aubergine-sep1

She has exhibited widely in the UK and in Cyprus, as well as here on Ibiza, and her work can be found in collections all over the world, from Hawaii to Hong Kong.

from 09.00 hrs  always open

Sep 25 @ 12:00 pm

aubergine-sep1

She was subsequently awarded a Fellowship in Stone Lithography at the same establishment, and, two years later, joined the Cyprus College of Art on a year-long Postgraduate Diploma in Art.

A serious statement of intent bringing some of the finest from the world of House & Techno.

Offering a realistic, romantic, sensual, even febrile or humorous view of the matter.

aubergine-sep1
