Welcoming 2020 in grand style, bohemian party Ethereal returns to its new winter home Markus Chef’s Kitchen to celebrate Tres Reyes Magos (the Three Kings). The wandering party takes over one of Ibiza’s most charming new venues continuing the winning collaboration while adding extra vigour to the essence of the island.

As always, top music and brilliant art will run the show to widen the doors of perception, keeping alive the genuine spirit of Ibiza. The event also marks the closing of the season for Ethereal until 8 March, taking the chance to celebrate the birthday of its creator, Vito Masci.

To this end, myriad renowned resident DJs and live acts join forces with significant artists to rekindle the unique energy of Ibiza. Bringing in another remarkable collection of skilful artists, Ethereal continues its ascent on the Ibiza scene.

Starting at 13:00, the event kicks off with live sets, including some reggae, live painting, shows, art exhibits and now also a market. Getting the party started, the creative Italian artist Davide Garra blends ambient, deep and psychedelic techno to take you on a sonic voyage. Using his extensive proficiency as a pianist, guitarist and singer, he is best known and loved for his unforgettable performances and Visionaire events at iconic venues such as Sunset Ashram, Teatro Pereyra, Guaraná, Veto, Sankeys, Bora Bora and many more.

From 16:00, the legendary Lenny Ibizarre will be putting on a live set as well. An Ibiza staple since his Warner Music UK album, the Ambient Collection, Lenny went on to producing 12 more albums, including his Chilled Ibiza Compilations. A multi-platinum selling artist and record label founder of Ibizarre Records, Lenny has held residencies across the island’s clubbing institutions the likes of Café Del Mar, Pacha, Khumaras, Ku (Privilege) and Amnesia, as well as performing for Cirque Du Soleil and providing music for Sony PlayStation’s famous game Grand Turismo Sport.

Moving the party from the Garden to the Club, after 18:00, the party carries on with thrilling DJ sets, one more live set and video art. Resident DJ Maricha will bring on the distinctive sunset vibes of her signature “intelligent dance,” mingling deep house, afro-house, downtempo, chill-rave and her own live vocals.

Also playing live, the haunting Medusa Odyssey will be putting on their unique show. Both Ethereal regulars and island-favourites, the Ibiza-based duo combine synthesizers, electric guitar, flutes, vocals and drum machines to create their distinctive ethnic sound.

The musical selection continues with Austrian wonder DJ and producer Megablast. Blending world music, dub, techno and electronica, his extraordinary take on house music has gained him worldwide recognition, with releases on G-Stone, !K7, Flying Circus and Compost, to name a few. The party carries on until late with resident DJ Edoardo Marvaso.

In line with its ethos, Ethereal also moves forward with its powerful artistic impact. The event once again showcases a talented group of artists, starting with the work of artistic director Rossano Poletti. Originally from Italy, he has held exhibitions in Bologna, Milan and Tuscany before moving to London. Taking a turn toward “figurative art” and his currently most common genre portraits, his work presents the quintessence of his subjects via various media. To do so, he uses oils, acrylics, pencil, charcoal, pastel and mixed media, on top of a range of painting techniques such as gluing, dripping, pouring and glazing. The result is a series of poignant pictures.

Born and based on Ibiza, Antea Plata draws inspiration from her gorgeous homeland, capturing the colours, shapes and energy of the rocky coasts and Balearic sea in her pieces. Also on display, Kundalini and Hatha yoga teacher Daniela Toffolet – aka Daniela Gatita Inderjeet – channels mystical visions through her third eye into primarily abstract, psychedelic and magical art pieces, part of her brand and logo, DanyisMagiK.

Born in Argentina, German has focused on tattooing, paining, interior design, architecture and digital programs to create art, drawing inspiration from the 26 countries he has visited and worked in. More recently, he has developed a passion for street art.

Egyptian artist SamSarà will be exhibiting her photographic artwork. These include outdoor portraits, fashion photography, breath-taking landscapes and suggestive macro images collected via her far-reaching travels, particularly within Europe and Africa. She has also collaborated with the ESPN, Hollywood TV, MSN Entertainment, 7 for all Mankind, Ford, Toyota, Nissan, Coastal Helicopters, Red Bull and Crash Production, amongst many others.

The brilliant work of the New York-based Rachel Ayala, the emotionally expressive paintings by Italian-born Kiara Cortez, as well as the work of Behzad Behpour, will also be on display.

Adding a kinaesthetic dimension to the party, the flashing Violet Heart and Paula Catalan will put on their marvellous interactive performances and live painting.

The event continues the exciting new collaboration with Markus Chef’s Kitchen. The creation of head chef and co-founder Mark, Markus and its enchanting garden capture the spirit of the island, making it ideal for special events. Focusing on local ingredients and dishes, Markus will serve a lip-smacking international brunch for €20 to fuel your energy.

Ethereal also features a Kids Corner so that parents can come out and play as well. You will want to get out your favourite outfits to share your individuality in this magical place where absolute freedom of expression is the only rule.
