IBIZA REUNION @ EDEN IBIZA Night Club
from 23.00 – 06.00 hrs
During the ‘90’s there were two places in Europe where the club culture was thriving like nowhere else in the world: Belgium and Ibiza. Both small areas but both were loaded with clubs where electronic music lovers ventured from one club to another for days on end. It was a time of complete freedom and celebrating life through music.
A collective of leading Belgian players is now bringing that special retro atmosphere to Ibiza.
They present to you: Ibiza Reunion which will be held for the 1st time in one of Ibiza’s most prestigious clubs on Thursday July 4th. With this event they are joining world renowned brands as Defected, Toolroom and artists as Paul Van Dyck and Orbital in Eden, a state-of-the-art club which underwent a huge face-lift and is now fitted with an amazing sound-system and numerous Led walls lighting up the place. A true ‘Garden of Eden’!
The perfect place to be celebrating the sounds and atmosphere of the ‘90’s which were all about ‘love & peace’ and uplifting music. Because that’s what Retro Ibiza will be bringing to Ibiza today: those timeless tracks to which people lost themselves in music over and over again, those beats that instantly brought all hands in the air and put a huge smile on everybody’s face. There is something special about the sound of the ‘90’s that you can’t quite put your finger on but you can feel it in your body and feet. And yes, those effects remain the same today. The current success of many of those classic tracks and events prove it. It is clear in Belgium where events from historic labels as Bonzai and retro concepts as Age of Love sell out on each new edition. It is clear when huge dj’s still play these timeless tracks on parties around the world (we think of dj’s as Laurent Garnier, Carl Cox, Nina Kraviz, Charlotte De Witte and many more ).
It will be clear when they are played in Ibiza, the number one party island in the world. A place that still carries this huge love for electronic music and that hedonistic feeling of ‘One Love’. During the nineties, people didn’t go out to have a drink or meet some friends, they went out to dance to electronic music, the kind that gave them chills down their spine, made them jump with joy and shout of excitement. It created a truly unique feeling of togetherness and it’s that unique feeling that will be brought back to life on Retro Ibiza.
The abundant ambiance of the older generations now also attracts the younger generations who eagerly join in the complete madness on the dance-floor. A madness that is foremost created by the music with lots of dance classics but also by all those extra’s that made the parties in the nineties so extra-ordinary: lasers, gadgets, dancers and lots more. You will find it all at Ibiza Reunion.
Headlining the event is one of the biggest names from the UK club culture with Judge Jules. He was voted the best dj. in the world by DJ Mag in 1995. The perfect figure to belt out thé tracks of the heydays of retro. He will be joined by an array of Belgian jocks that played an important role in the Belgian retro scene starting with M.I.K.E. / Push who created iconic tracks as ‘Universal Nation’ and ‘The Legacy’. Next up is Cherry Moon Trax whom we know from classics as ‘House of House’, ‘Needle Destruction’ and ‘Acid Dream’. More Bonzai power comes from DJ Ghost who was a resident for famous clubs as Cherry Moon and H2O in Belgium for a decade. His world hits include ‘Blow Up the Speakers’ and ‘Airport’ which was played by Tiesto on the Olympic Games in Greece. Another big player comes with Dave Lambert, driving force behind Versuz – a club featured numerous times in the DJ Mag Top 100 – and producer of over 40 compilations and international hit-singles. Also present will be Tofke, well known in Belgium and Ibiza where he was a regular dj, in clubs as La Rocca as well as Space and DC-10. And then there’s Quincy who singlehandedly revived the ‘90’s in Belgium through events as Age of Love and reunions of about every great club from that time. And that’s not all because also DJ Licious will bring out his arsenal of classics. He’s the organizer of the Defected parties in Belgium and runs the Shomi label next to having hits on Hexagon and Tiësto’s AFTR label. Alec, Delafino & Cris Ruiz complete this more than impressive line-up.
Ibiza Reunion will be bringing the ultimate seduction for all lovers of retro house and trance sounds, uniting young and old, rich or poor, black or white, straight or gay. All will be celebrating a time where love and beats ruled the nightlife and create a vibe that will explode the dance-floor of Eden like it was 1999!
Ibiza has been always an island with a unique identity and a special allure. The first Ibicencos came from Lebanon and history tells us that they were followed by the Romans, the Vikings and the Arabs. Even in Greek mythology there are mentions of locations with a more than passing resemblance to Ibiza. Even now, Ibiza has never lost any of its magic; the curiosity of the world is still enchanted by the island. From an architectural point of view, a myriad variety of styles is to be found all over the island; authentic Ibicencan style, Norwegian style, Mexican style, Arabian style, Greek style…you name it. The main theme of this fabulous book is to give the reader an insider’s view of the surprising dream-houses to be found on Ibiza, which demonstrate the enormous variety of architectural styles (ancient and modern) on this Mediterranean island.
