20th MEDIEVAL FESTIVAL IBIZA
Feria Eivissa Medieval 2019
Today the 20th MEDIEVAL FESTIVAL starts in the old part of the city of Eivissa, called Dalt Vila, organised by Eivissa City Council to commemorate four natural and cultural assets on the island being declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco in December 1999.
Travel back into Medieval times, with a full program, in a city divided into zones, and streets decorated in a medieval spheres, setting the scene for a great festival.
150 craftspeople and around 100 actors take part as peddlers, noblemen, fakirs, snake charmers and minstrels as the commemorative ceremonies mainly focus on aspects related to the cultures that contributed to the essence of Eivissa. Phoenicians, Romans and Arabs have passed through the city, which continues to be greatly influenced by outside cultures.
Today, and the coming 3 days, Ibiza’s cultural legacy is highlighted with medieval performances, incl. acrobats performing daring stunts on the castle walls, in colorful spotlights.
Enjoy the Medieval Markets, crafts, food, drink, live music, shows and entertainment set in the medieval era. A lot of sounds and aromas will make you travel in time.
The Medieval Market runs daily from 10 – 23 hrs.
For this occasion all museums will be open to the public.
